Suit of Swords

The Tarot Suit of Swords is the same as the Suit of Spades in a deck of regular playing cards, except for the Knight of Swords. There are no Knights in a regular deck of playing cards.

Swords represent truth, discernment, and spiritual warfare. Sword's energy is mental, analytical, and perceptive. It governs thought, language, decision making, perception, anxiety, clarity, and conflict. When balanced, it expresses as truth, insight, and clear thinking. When excessive or depleted, it may manifest as overthinking, worry, mental strain, confusion, or internal conflict.

The Tarot Suit of Swords: Holistic Alternative Associations

Swords respond well to therapies that promote mental clarity, counseling, structured thinking, breathing practices, and time in the fresh air.

Swords are associated with the color YELLOW, so eating yellow foods such as squash, bananas, yellow peppers, and eggs may be supportive. However, this association may not apply universally. Swords represent the Sanguine temperament, which may or may not be your dominant temperament.

Herbs and essential oils for Air signs include bergamot, chamomile, clary sage, grapefruit, lemon balm, lavender, jasmine, sandalwood, vetiver, and ylang ylang.

Stones and crystals for Sanguine energy include citrine, amber, tiger eye, sunstone, carnelian, topaz, and other warming or clarifying stones.
